Moving & Assisting - People

Our most popular course, on this full day course you will learn:

  • Manual handling theory

  • Manual handling of inanimate objects

Practical sessions on:​

  • Walking/falling person.

  • Chairs and bed work

  • Hoists

Our purpose designed training room offers learners the opportunity to practice techniques with a wide range of equipment including a tracking/ceiling hoist.

This course is registered with the Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme

Duration: 7hrs

Cost: £90per person

First Aid (EFAW)

 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).  A range of subjects are covered including::

  • Responsibilities and reporting

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

  • Burns

  • Resuscitation

  • Minor injuries

  • Choking

  • Assessment of the situation

  • Basic hygiene in First Aid

  • Epilepsy

  • Anatomy

  • Bleeding control

  • Shock

Duration: 7hrs

Sorting Medicine

Medication -Care at Home

On this course designed to explain the roles and boundaries of assisting people with their medication and ensure you practice safe administration, we explore the following:

  • Consent

  • Types of medication

  • Routes

  • Classification 

  • Side effects/allergic reactions

  • Contra-indications

  • MAR charts

  • Reporting problems

  • Levels of need

  • Covert medications

  • Refusal

  • Storage and disposal

Duration: 4hrs

Cost: £60 per person

Adult Support and Protection

On this course covering Adult Support & Protection legislation, you will learn:

  • What is meant by the terms 'adult at risk' and 'harm

  • The types of harm which adults may be at risk of and the situations in which harm may occur

  • The principles that should be followed and how to deal with some of the dilemmas around the issues

  • How to recognise signs and symptoms which may indicate someone is being harmed

  • Who to go to and what to do if there are concerns

  • How to record key information

Duration: 3hrs

Cost: £50 per person
